The AWARE Center participated in the 4th United Nations Alliance of Civilizations Doha Forum that gathered thousand of Participant from all over the world to discuss the multi-thematic issue of Dialogue among Civilizations.
The Forum that was launched in the presence of HE Shika Mouza Bint Nasser Al-Messnid, wife of the Emir Of Qatar and The Secretary General of the United Nations, Ban Ki-moon as well as some 30 Heads of States and Governments is looking to give a new and concrete dimension to building bridges between Societies and promote dialogue and understanding and to forge the collective political will to address the World imbalances.
The AWARE Center contributed to the Youth Preparatory Event. A total of 400 youth from over 100 countries took part in the Forum. On December 10, during the Youth Preparatory Event, this diverse group of 400 young leaders met to debate key aspects of cross-cultural and interreligious understanding. Two Kuwaiti volunteers from the AWARE Center were among the facilitators of this event. The 3 days conference was concluded by calling for more concrete measures; in order for initiatives such as UNAOC to be able to build in concrete terms a long standing real political, social and religious dialogue. UNAOC was launched in 2005 with the aim to bridge the divide between religions and Cultures and promote values of Understanding and Tolerance between diverse civilizations.
